how many rocks can you collect?
‘nonrenewable resources such as rocks, mineral specimens, and semiprecious gemstones’ are contained within subsection 2 of:

- §8365.1–5 | property and resources of
- part 8360 | visitor services of
- subchapter h | recreation programs of
- subtitle b | regulations relating to public lands of
- subpart i | casual collection of common invertebrate or plant paleontological
resources on bureau of land management and bureau of reclamation administered
lands of
- the most recently amended federal register [ volume 87 page 47,329 ]
and what does section b tell us?
“except on developed recreation sites and areas, or where otherwise prohibited and posted, it is permissible to collect from the public lands reasonable amounts of the following for noncommercial purposes:”
in other words, take the government up on their willingness to trust in your ability to be a reasonable human: don’t take them for commercial purposes (this is actually against the law in another subpart subpart somewhere), don’t take more than you need, and if, for some reason, you have an 30kw pillar iki stove consider collecting your eleven hundred pounds of rocks with several of your strongest friends and over an extended period time
